Wave Starts:

The race will be run in the wave start format to ease the congestion on both the course and runners. Waves will consist of 300 people and will start every three minutes taking approximately 1hr and 40mins for all participants to run. You will find all the information you need to know about your wave start including the time you need to arrive in the marshalling area in Race Day Info. This information will also be sent out to you in your race kit that you will receive in the mail approximately 2 weeks prior to the race.

Race Timing:

The IPICO timing system will be used for the Aviva Investors Melbourne Mile. This involves participants attaching a timing chip to their shoe with a twist ties provided in your race kits. Please do not thread the chip through your shoe lace as this will make it difficult to remove. Participants need to follow the instructions given in race kits to attach this properly available from Race Day Info. Incorrectly attached tags may not properly record your time. Once participants run through the finishing chute they will need to remove and hand back their tags with the help of the marshals. Please note that you are responsible for the timing chip until it is passed back to the organizer at the finish line after your race. Participants who cannot make it on the day will need to mail their timing chip back to PO Box 301, Albert Park, VIC 3206. If the chip is not handed back you will be charged a replacement fee of $50.

Race Kit contents:

  • Race Bib and pins – please attach this to the front side of your running top
  • IPICO timing tag, twist ties and instructions – please attach this as per the instruction sheet
  • Race Day Info sheet – this details everything you will need to know including your wave start
